HOW AFL-CIO ADVOCATES:

COMMUNITY IN ACTION NEWSLETTER

Produced and published by our local AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison at United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois, the Community in Action Newsletter helps spread the word on local labor's contributions to the community.  The newsletter highlights community service projects, volunteer awards, food and clothing drives, fundraising efforts and results, UCAN graduates, upcoming community events and opportunities.  Currently, the Community in Action Newsletter is distributed to Labor Groups, elected officials, community leaders, agencies, and others.

COMMUNITY IN ACTION NEWSLETTER ARCHIVES

UCAN

The AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison program hosts an annual eight week training course designed to educate working men and women on the value of being involved, giving back, improving their workplace and bettering their community.

Topic experts from across the state present sessions including:  Labor history, domestic and international labor law, local social service agencies, civic participation, building a better organization and co-worker engagement.  This year we are proud to announce collaboration with the University of Illinois Labor Education Program.  UCAN graduates will recieve a certificate of completion from the UIUC Labor Education Program.
