At United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois, we have developed three areas of focus based on an assessment of community needs. By focusing on five main areas, we are targeting our community's biggest troubles through funding programs dedicated to producing outcomes.

 

 

33% - Education

·         Programs that work to reduce or eliminate barriers to graduation for at-risk students will be considered for funding.

 

·         The 6 year goal is to increase the high school graduation rate.

 

 

25% - Self-Sufficiency

 

·         Programs that work to change the culture of poverty for individuals or families will be considered for funding.

 

·         The 6 year goal is to lower the poverty rate in Macon County.

 

 

20% - Health

 

·         Programs that work to increase the number of people making healthy decisions will be considered for funding.

 

·         The 6 year goal is to reduce the number of individuals engaging in unhealthy behaviors.

 

 

10% - Safety

 

·         Programs that work to prevent or break the cycle of violence for people in abusive situations will be considered for funding.

 

·         The 6 year goal is to decrease the cases of family violence.

 

 

10% - Basic Services

 

·         Programs that work to provide shelter, food, or care for individuals will be considered for funding.

 

·         This will be measured by the number of people served.

 

 

 

 

 

 

***2% of the Community Impact Fund will be allocated through an emerging needs grant process.
