- RIDE UNITED EVENT SEEKING SPONSORSHIPS

Decatur, IL- March 1, 2010 - Neuhoff Media and Spin City Cycles will present Ride United, a bike ride and family friendly event to raise money and awareness for United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois on Sunday, May 23, 2010.  The event, slated to be held at Fairview Park, will include 10, 40 and 60 mile cycling routes dedicated to one of United Way's vision areas:  Education, Income and Health.  All three rides will begin and end at Fariview, where plenty of child and family friendly activities, a bike parade for children, live entertainment, games, informational booths and food will be available to the general public and riders throughout the day.  Riders will begin at 7am; all other activities will be held from 10am to 2pm.

Event, Route, Expo and In-Kind sponsorships are now available for this event.  Ride United will attract an array of audiences from Mid-Illinois, from avid cyclists to families seeking a safe and fun place to spend the day together.  Sponsorships will be utilized to cover all cost associated with the event to maximize revenue and give riders confidence that 100% of their donations/pledges for entry will be used to strengthen Education, Income and Health in the community.  Sponsorships are available at all price levels and include great promotional benefits.  There are also opportunities for business or organization to set up booths to share information with attendees.

A range of entry levels have been put together to make the ride accessible to anyone.  Riders can make a personal donation or collect pledges from friends, families or co-workers to enter at an upgraded level and raise additional funds for United Way.  Businesses are also welcome to sponsor adult riders or donate gear to help young riders participate.
Standard entry into the ride will be $30 and include an event tee shirt, safe routes, well stocked rest areas, food and drink tickets.  Gold entry into the event will include the above with an upgraded moisture-wick shirt and extra drink tickets for $50.  Perhaps the most exciting entry package is for our Elite riders, which will include all-inclusive access to the celebration and an upgraded cycling jersey, designed by local artist Shani Goss.  Elite Riders will raise or donate a minimum of $200.
Further details and rider registration for the event will be released later this month.  Business and organization interested in sponsoring this event should contact Denise Smith at United Way, 422-8537 or dsmith@uwdecatur.org.
