Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks dedicated, consistent adult volunteers to spend quality time once per week with kids in need of a friend. We offer an opportunity that fits almost any schedule, even during your work week. Sign up to become a “Big” in the school setting and visit your “Little” to read books, play games, talk and finish schoolwork on the day of your choice. Alternatively, you can spend one afternoon or weekend morning hanging out – hit the movies, head to the library or explore new hobbies. Either way, it’s all about spending a little bit of your time to make a BIG impact on the community.   For more information call: (217) 428-4240 or visit us at http://bbbscil.org. You can also send email to zach.shields@bbbs.org  …Zach Shields…..Community Partnership Manager

Good Samaritan Inn

We have groups of people from churches, businesses & other organizations working on a daily basis.  I also have some Sunday dates open with no one signed up at this time.  Usually the weekend groups provide the food & servers, but we will take workers without food  at this point.  Working at the inn usually entails food preparation, serving  the food, working in the dining room & cleaning up (If you can).   Each person does not do all of those jobs. Some groups divide into smaller groups so all do not have to work the entire time.  Paid employees are always there to supervise.  Time to work at the inn is generally 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.  We can always use volunteers, sometimes 1 or 2 or more a day depending on the size of the group already working that day, or 10-12 people to work the whole job.  Aprons & plastic gloves are provided.  You may call me, Judy Ford, at 875-1538 or the Good Samaritan Inn at 429-1455 or e-mail at judyjf@comcast.net
